Future plans

The Planning Committee is now working on a proposal for a third period of funding, directed to consolidating and expanding both our network and resources for teaching and research. In addition to regular programming at the annual AAS and AAS-in-Asia conferences, this will include inter alia creating the Open Access archive of evidentiary materials associated with the TL independence movement (History Beyond Borders); an online repository of Open Access teaching materials, patterned on the Music of Timor exhibition presented at the 2017 workshop (see 2017 report); developing distance learning in Tetum as a Less Commonly Taught Language (see above); and establishing a Dili-based competence-building program for Timorese scholars aimed at facilitating their participation in the international academy, and strengthening institutional ties between North American and Timorese institutions of higher learning.
